This was a commission by a master craftsman stairway builder. His client wanted a pair of custom lion newel posts at the end of his grand staircase. I started with a sketch and then transferred the sketch to two 4 ft. tall and 9×9″ blocks of mahogony. Here are some pics…

Kris..these lion posts are truly works of art.. I love the detailed carving..especially the leaf and floral designs on the sides, as well as the facial detail on the lions. I am sure installed to the staircase they are quite a sight to see!
