Custom Chair

This customer is commissioning a custom sculptural chair for her husband who runs a BBQ business. The idea is to have the logo carved into the back of the chair and the name of the business laser engraved into the seat with the feet carved into pig feet…

First,  I started with a couple of slabs of maple and used the table saw, skillsaw and sawzall to cut out the individual parts…

Next, I marked out the mortise and tenons and used a bench top mortise machine to help hog out the mortises…

Next, I sharpened up the chisels to finish the mortise and tenons…

With the framing finished, I cut up the rest of the slabs to get glued up for the back, arm rests and seat… Once the back and seat are finished, I can glue it up and start carving all the curves into the chair… The next post will show the rest of the process…

Thanks for looking! Spring has finally arrived!!!!

God bless you,

Kris
