This carving was made out of an elm stump. Not too many elms left around these parts because of the dutch elm disease. I have been carving now for 10 years and this was the first time I’ve had the opportunity to carve it. It was very nice to carve. I liked it better than pine. When I arrived, this stump was 20 ft. tall! So I had to drop the top half of it, which scares me a bit. These size logs can crush a person quite easily. It dropped right where I wanted it to thankfully. This bear I had looking down hill with his body facing the road to give him a sense of realism. The kids helped me stain and clean up on the last day.

Having the kids stand next to the bear sure puts the size into perspective! Good job as usual! Love You! Mom
Beautifully done Kris, as usual. I love the heart shape head/neck area.
nice again Kris I too love seeing the kids helps you see the massivness of the tree. And bee careful trees hurt when they are on you
