Carving some marina pilings in Old Saybrook, CT.
I recently restored this pine horse bench for a dear customer. I put new bases on them, a new muzzle on one horse, new maple slabs, sanded, filled cracks and oiled. These are 10 years old!
This is a life-size fox made from garden tools. It’s different from carving, but a fun experiment in a new material and technique. I hope you like it!
6 ft. wood carved bear with sign for a cabin in PA. Thanks for looking!
Blocking out a 6 ft. bear in poplar. Thanks for looking!
Have you ever heard someone talk about "dimensional" signs? Here's what a dimensional sign looks like. A sign made of multiple layers and textures, usually made with weatherproof high-density foam. Thanks for watching!
Carving some marine themed pilings at the gorgeous Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook, CT.
I created a King Kong face out of clay, then made a mold. Next, I made several resin casts. The customer has created a King Kong themed car and these will be attached to the car. A switch will send smoke out of the nostrils.
This carving is roughly 2’x 4’ made of poplar and finished with a satin clear coat. It was carved partly by CNC and partly by hand. It was made for the new police station in Maiden, NC. Thanks for looking.
This 8 ft. anchor was made in high density sign foam, painted and hung in the lobby of a school in Bronx, NYC. This was a blast to make. All the layers and textures and use of metallic paints was very satisfying. Thanks for looking and sharing!
Herons are one of my favorite subjects to carve because of their graceful curves. Thanks for looking!
The Toledo Zoo commissioned this weatherproof, 7 ft. foam/ fiberglass epoxy hippo to house a penny machine in their souvenir section. Hippos have so much character to their form. This was a blast to create. Thanks for looking!
Mountain Dew commissioned this portrait of NFL player Andrew Hawkins and surprised him with it on his live podcast. The finished portrait was fired clay and painted to look like a bronze cast, then mounted on a hardwood base. Thanks for looking!
This was a 5 ft. diameter oak barrel end shipped from Germany. We added a white oak relief carving of their logo to the end and they hung it on the wall of their restaurant. This thing is huge! It is an impressive focal point for their patrons in Charlotte, NC.
The Caterpillar Company celebrated their 40,000th big dozer and ordered this 3 ft. long D-11 Dozer carving to add to the celebration. Carved out of paulownia. Thanks for looking!
This carving is roughly 2’ x 4’ x 1” thick and carved from weatherproof HDU foam. This was carved partly with a router and partly by hand, then painted. It was commissioned by a residence in central Virginia. Thanks for looking.
A 30” tall bear cub made from high density foam, then painted. No epoxy seal necessary with this foam. It is a 15 lb. density HDU foam used in professional sign making. Completely weatherproof- no cracks, no rot, no maintenance! Thanks for looking.
This Arnold Palmer carving was carved by someone else. I was commissioned to restore the carving. I replaced rotted wood with good wood, filled cracks, sanded and oiled it and replaced the base with a metal plate. This is located in Haymarket, Virginia at a country club. Thanks for looking!
8 ft. grizzly carved in foam, sealed with epoxy resin and painted. Taxidermy inserts for mouth and eyes. This sculpture is weatherproof and durable. This was created for a customer near Reno, Nevada to greet his guests as they enter his home.
