Family Tree Carving

This customer asked if we could create a family tree carving. We sent him various images of trees and he picked one, sent us names and a quote to carve in the bottom and worked up a design.

The carving is 2ft. x 2 ft. and 3/4″ thick. We edge glued sapele boards together to create the panel.

Next, we programmed the design into the CNC software and had the CNC route out the profile and text.

Above is how it looked after the CNC was finished routing. Next, the trunk, branches and leaves were hand carved to give it some realism and dimension.

Next, 3 coats of satin oil polyurethane were applied to pop the gorgeous sapele color and grain!
