A customer in Chesapeake Virginia had a white oak tree that was struck by lightning and had to come down. She left a 7 ft. trunk and I spent 4 days carving it into a frog with one leg up and one leg down. The frog is staring out at their pool area…
While carving, black stains started to appear, which is a strong sign that metal is embedded in the wood near the stain. Sure enough, I found this nasty chunk of chain killer embedded about 4 inches deep!

Once the frog was blocked in, then I spent the next day sanding with the angle grinder to smooth out the form.
Finally, it was time to sand the base and watch the grain pop as the oil gets applied. The oil is my favorite part!
