Epic cutting horse and rider

Our larger-than-life cutting horse and rider has found its home at a privately owned horse arena just outside Richmond, Virginia, where it’s already delighting its new owner and his guests.

Standing 9 feet tall and stretching 10 feet long, this sculpture began as two enormous blocks of high-density foam. Bringing it to life took countless hours of carving, plenty of helping hands, and the ingenuity of our whole crew.

Beneath its bronze-look finish are layers of fire-rated epoxy resin, fiberglass reinforcement, and metal rods embedded in the legs. Finished with automotive-grade paints, it was built to withstand the weather while preserving every detail of that frozen-in-action moment.

Here’s Kris’ very talented nephew Josia Macica, helping this thing get off the ground!

Of all the sculptures we’ve created together, this remains one of our crew’s favorites—and one of the most admired and talked about. From the cutting horse’s powerful stance to the rider’s distinctive ball cap instead of a cowboy hat, it has a personality all its own.

We’re overjoyed to see it enjoyed in its new home. And if you happen to know a particular horse and cattle rancher outside Richmond, perhaps someday you’ll be lucky enough to get a peek at it in his personal arena!

Hope you enjoy our recap of the process!

What an incredible journey! We were so happy with the way it turned out, and so was our customer.
