I’ve been asked to create a custom ring box to house 12 Olympic basketball championship rings from the 1992 Dream Team! The box will be made of mahogany with some holly inlay. The text and logo will be laser engraved into the wood and glass. The rings will sit in red, white and blue satin stripes. Here are some pics of the design.
I’m starting with cutting the stock to the proper dimension.
Then, I use the forstner bit to hog out the wood from the inside.
Then, I sharpen my chisel and clean up the edges.
