I find taking the time to really study reference images during the process of a carving helps me to see all the cuts I need to make. The better the references, the smoother the road to reaching the goal of believability. If you want to get better at realism, make sure you are utilizing plenty of good reference images. Thanks for looking and sharing!

Madison Dining Club Signs

Custom Sculpture & Sign Co. May 4, 2018 2 Comments

The Madison Dining Club in Madison Wisconsin sent us there logo and asked us to make 5 logos as three dimensional crests. 1 – 21″ tall, 3 – 14″ tall and 1 – 4″ tall. We did the three 14″ in poplar and the other two in 15 lb. HDU (sign foam)IMG_20180504_112904488.jpg

We started with the CNC routing out some shapes and then hand carved the badger, flourishes and other details.
