Custom English Bulldog carving

The Dover Airforce Base in Delaware has the bulldog as their image. They ordered this carving for their base. This is the sketch I based it on.

It is carved out of a sycamore log. I really like the stability and tight grain of sycamore wood for carving.

Once the rough form was blocked out, I moved it to my shop to do the details with smaller power tools (sanders, grinders, dremels)

They requested a dark color, so I used Cabot’s Jarrah Brown Australian Timber oil.
